In case y'all haven't guessed it's firearms and related stuff. More specifically military surplus. It's a slow process but here's a few things I've put together recently. I have other gear that I either have on order or am looking for. This all kind of started with the 1911 Anniversary pistol I've already posted about. I don't know how far into this I will eventually get. Budget and availability limit what I can do.

The web belt and Thompson magazine carrier are reproductions of WWII gear, but was also issued in Korea and Vietnam. The rifle of course is a modern design but uses 26rnd magazines that will fit the Thompson pouch. The Kbar I bought at auction quite few years ago.



This IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) and the canteen were I items I was issued in VN and brought home with me.

Back in the 1950's all of our boy scout equipment was army surplus. It was so much better quality than the offical boy scout tents, canteens, and mess kits. We did not have any guns or knifes though/

Thats a pretty cool hobby. Ive been getting more and more into shooting and tactical training. Mainly urban tactics.

It was really good especially the medical portion which they incorporated into the training applying tourniquets , stuffing wounds and applying compression bandages etc. while under fire behind cover simulating a active shooting incident. One thing they did i thought was very cool was they had us dip our hands into a bucket of water, then squirted our hands with dish soap to simulate us bleeding and applying a tourniquet to ourselves.

Ive taken a lot of different training courses but this one was the most complexed and thorough

Sounds like a pretty good course. Uncle Sam provided that sort of thing and other skills for me when I was active duty, so never had the need for a civilian course. What did they charge you if you don't mind me asking?

As for shooting, I still do a little target work in the back yard ( I do carry whenever I leave the house), but getting too old to be knocking around in any kind of tactical games. About as close as I get to that these days is a trip to the local Walmart.

Pretty much the same for me, except I did have a couple rifles and knives for camp outs and such. I did earn a couple NRA shooting badges back then (the brass ones in the pic - pro marksman and sharpshooter).
