Hey Folks,

Now that I've finished a project from the shop, it's time to do one for the shop.

Actually there's going to be more than one, but this one is really needed. I've been getting a bit annoyed at all the space my pattern collection is taking up. They typically end up covering every horizontal surface in the shop, and soon I'm working around them. The clutter is not only annoying, it's unsafe. Coupled with the new possibility that they might accidentally end up as firewood, prompted me to come up with a solution.

What I did was mount a new french cleat at the 12' level on the north wall of my shop. I then made a peg rack using 1/2" dowels pitched upward at 5.36º (at least that's what my calculator said it was after the fact Wink ).

I use a pole with a metal hook on the end to put them up, and take them down.
I haven't yet drilled mounting holes in all of my patterns, but as spring cleaning commences, I expect to excavate all of them and get them hung up, safely out of the reach of firewood gleaners. BSEG

Cheers,
Tom

Love the idea, in fact I have done some of the same, using vertical walls for storage.

That cleat is 2' taller than my shop is wide.

:poutylip:

'tis a great place for storage you have though.

I have a jig/pattern "corner" in my shop that desperately needs to put up like that. Alas, if only I had the vertical space. Maybe above the rolling door? hmmm....
