I picked up a dial indicator yesterday at HB. Today I checked my TS blade from front to back. I read .005". Is that good or bad? I do not recall having any problems in my work that would hinder anything.

I'd call that good to go if it's wide at the back of the blade.

.005 is lab tolerances. I'd suggest repeating the measurement every month or so and see if it develops a noticeable trend (note it on something so you don't forget). That's what I do, anyway.

Thanks for the good words. I bought this saw at Sears in 1996, (i think) floor model, took it home and tightened everything I could find. I finally tuned up the fence about 8 years ago, and it has really served me well. It is contractors saw with a great fence, similar to the unifence. Wide with a great rail system. If it is only out the .005" I ain'ta gonna touch it.

Tilt the blade to 45 degrees and check it again, this will show you if you have problems. Be sure that you indicator is 90 degrees to the surface of the blade. If if is less than .025" I will be surprised and of course it would need to be correct to less than .005" , when I first checked mine it was off by .032". Hopefully it will be high at the back, that is a little easier to fix.
