This was a pen I made for Chief that is headed to Afghanistan It was a going away gift from the Chiefs Mess Of Subase Kingsbay, GA.

Beautiful, but how could you stand the smell. I tried turning deer antler once and the smell was terrible. Like rotting flesh.

I used ca glue on the back of a chiefs tie tac that had the point taken off and grounded down. I will start using a soldering needle and I will attach that way i think it will make them a little bit stronger. Thanks.

I have turned a couple of antler pens, yes they smelled different that turning wood but it wasn't that bad. The antler I was using was very old, perhaps that made a difference.
