Been trying to steal time to work on some Christmas gifts...the gals like boxes so.... I'm using up some 2/4 cherry I've had for a while...got this stuff years ago while still in San Diego and have made many boxes and other gifts & shop fixtures out of it. I noticed in the latest edition of Fine Woodworking mag that BERDOLL SAWMILL had an ad and upon closer look, I saw that it was just a few miles from me! Went to visit and found some extraordinary mesquite....there was some beautiful slabs but I was after stock to use in my shop. Brought the mesquite home...see some of it below....hoping to re-saw and make some gifts.
Here's the cherry on the shooting board: Image

Gonna have to find some creative filler for this holey beauty!

Don,
That Mesquite is nice! What are you going to do with it? More boxes?
Can you re-saw something that wide.?
I have never been able to re-saw anything. :-?

Don

The wormholes are a part of mesquite and a lot of
folks think they add character etc.

A small box with the wormholes would be very nice.
