Did you have the wood kiln dried?
Air drying trees cut into boards has not worked out well for me.
They warp horribly in spite of painting the ends and stacking properly.

No, the wood was air dried. Just got lucky, I guess, though I've had luck air drying in the past as well.

The handle was laid up in a single form. The eight laminations are cut, sanded to thickness, then a 1/8" slot is cut on the router table. The form looks like this:
The form and some heavy steel plates are then stuck in my 20 ton Harbor Freight hydraulic arbor press. I'm done trying to do this with clamps.
