not ? Make this super simple project from an off cut of really nice exotic or a domestic hardwood. Tools do not have to be brutally plain to be effective in their use. You make nice looking items so use nice looking tools to make them, you probably pick up nicer looking items before plain ones so pick up this nice looking tool and use it properly.

An old tip is to round or ease the corners of the iron to help prevent them digging in to grain.
