Made this simple box the other day to store my new Carving Jack and accessories in. Some old Box Elder I had laying around.

Beautiful grain. Very nice work, Gene. Thanks for posting...inspiring me to get out there and make one! Last year (or was it the year before) I got on a roll and made boxes for a lot of my specialty planes....very gratifying....but I didn't have any box elder!

Very nice. I like how you incorporated the rim of the box with the lid, well done.

Nice job! I like the figure in the grain especially.
I have made a lot of sliding lid boxes in the past but, I have better uses for some of them. :)

All one chunk of walnut mostly made on the scroll saw. Has a dovetail grove and magnets on the bottom of the lid and top of the front so that it "snaps" shut and stays closed. It re-opens with a bit of a push on the lid.

Well, yours is holding something far more valuable than mine, so it deserves to be housed in a classy box. :D

I thought about magnets, or some other method, on this one, and may eventually do that. :)
