I'm in the market for a 3x21 belt sander. A few years ago I gave away my ancient Dewalt because I hadn't used it in a long time. Stupid, ya.

My only hard requirements are a belt that stays adjusted and under $100.

What would you guys get?

I've got a Makita I've had for years that has stood up really well. And yes, the belt, once adjusted, stays pretty much in place. I don't recall what I paid for it and like I say, it was several years ago so 1) that model probably isn't available any longer and 2) the price wouldn't be relevant anyway. But I've been really satisfied with it none the less.

Good luck with your shopping!

Hi there, I have an old rigid belt sander( I am pretty sure its a 9x21) that I don't use anymore. The dust finally got to me and I went Neanderthal. its yours for free if you want it. if I remember it need to be tensioned once in a while or the belts runaway. I live near the beach in new jersey so its a bit of a drive for you. BUT every couple of weeks I drive the PA turnpike to the west side of the state about 45 minutes east of Pittsburgh. we are in the long process of settling an estate. If you want it its yours. I can mail it or you can meet me somewhere along the way, I tend to stop at the woodcraft in Harrisburg ( but I am not allowed in there without adult supervision any more.) Let me know
