Just got back from 4 days camping at Lake Livingston, Texas. Had a great time!
Did some bass fishing but only managed one 2 lb. bass. :(
Did some catfishing with cut shad I managed to catch in my cast net.

Threw under a dock and had this surprise.
A 22 lb. carp! That guy didn't want in the boat at all. Ten minutes to get it in the net. I need a bigger net!! :-?

Caught a number of cats with the biggest being this guy at 5.65 lbs. Fillets as long as your arm! :D
Bass and carp were released.

Just curious Zulu, Carp are trash fish here and people either eat em or throw them on the banks. Are they native to the US? Certainly not where I came from but that's a long ways away from Texas!
Cheers,
Eric

PS excellent pictures!

Eric,
I can't tell you if they are native or not.
Some folks eat them, most don't.
I actually tried some at a restaurant once. It tasted like mud and I threw it away.

The one I caught was released to grow bigger. :D
The catfish, on the other hand, tasted very good!

Carp eat all the vegetation in the lakes around here and can absolutely ruin a good lake.
They have carp rodeos on some lakes and allow you to shoot as many as you can with a bow and arrow.
