My good friend George (MightyMite) has suffered a stroke/heart attack. :( I found out this morning when I called him about some wood, but his wife answered his cell and told me what had happened. He's in ICU now, but they expect to move him to a regular room tomorrow. He obviously won't be on the forum for a while or in his shop.

Best of luck to him.

By coincidence I had my second heart attack on Saturday, but only needed a balloon and am home again.

Sorry to here about Mightymite, wishing him a speedy recovery.

Talked to George and Mary a few minutes ago. He's doing better, but still in hospital. Might be coming home later this week, and then home therapy for some time. He did ask about the forum and if there was anything interesting going on, and said he really wanted to get back in his shop to finish up a couple projects. Told him I'd help with that, just holler.

He doesn't have a laptop available to him, so don't expect him to be back on here for a week or 2 at the earliest. I told him that I'd posted about his attack and that y'all were sending best wishes, etc. He and Mary both appreciate the support, even tho long distance. :)

George is still in rehab. Found out today that it was a stroke, and has effected his speech some.

My Debbie had a stroke some thirty years ago now and her speech and ability to read were affected quite a bit. But she was back to 100 per cent in about 3 or 4 months.

Yup, tell George we are all pulling for him. Strokes suck! But I know several people who have stared them down and recovered. Not alway 100 percent but my Father in law has come carn close.
Again, Gene, please tell him we are all pulling for him!

He's still in the Hospital for rehab. His speech is improving, but he can't walk yet, and just regained partial use of one arm. His wife told me today that they hope to be able to send him home on the 23rd.

Update 2.

George has been home for a couple months, but is still going to rehab. Can't walk much yet and not at all without a cane or other support, and has extreme difficulty with stairs. So today, I went over and built him a railing for the steps out of his back door. Only 2 steps, but because of his left leg and arm being very weak he needs to hang on to something to get up and down using his right arm only.

He's a good supervisor, and enjoyed watching it go up, and I enjoyed doing this with/for him. Makes it much easier for him, and his wife (who is pretty petite) and she couldn't have caught him if he fell. Anyway, it will give him some incentive and mobility to maybe get out in his shop soon. He's got couple of great projects he was working on that have been put on hold indefinitely. The therapist thinks he's doing well, but it will be 6 months or more before he's able to do much.
