With room enough for the DishTV receiver, blu-ray player, turntable, receiver, CD player, and some storage.
Top is 5/4 curly maple - gives it that extra thickness that 4/4 wouldn't.
Frame is 8/4 cherry. Curved pieces on the sides are bent laminations.
Door panels are perforated aluminum to allow the various remotes to still work.

I feel like a caveman after seeing stuff like this. It is far beyond my wood working capability. :-?

Thanks to everyone for the generous words.

Don - it's an original design, worked up in SketchUp.

Kylerk - I'm away from home, so a Sketchup top view will have to do:

Zulu - oh, come on. If you can make those cannon carriages and ammo chests, you can certainly make this.

This design doesn't really take exotic skills to make. There are some tenons, which could be replaced with floating tenons or even dowels to simplify life. There are the bent laminations, which aren't hard once you've done a couple. Even the glue-up wasn't too bad because it is done in stages, though the final one is a bit tricky.

And the dovetails are done with a router setup, similar to a Leigh, but homemade.

That looks great! The grain on the door is fantastic, and I like the contrast between the wood. I know nothing of "styles", but I like the curves and the tapered legs. Well done.

Hey drstrip,

Well done! You've packed a lot of exotic features into a relatively simple design.

I find design to be the biggest challenge for me. Building stuff is the easy, relaxing and fun part. Design usually make my brain hurt. :(

A very nice piece.

Cheers,
Tom
