Its not that easy to find 2" PINE BOARDS.If you do find some they will most likely have a twist.
My idea is unconventional for sure :D But here goes.
I will buy some 3/4" boards and glue 3 of them up into one bed rail.
I will leave the middle board long so it makes my tenon.
This will allow me to get the 2" thick rails that I want for the bed. After i plane 1/4" off the rail.
With all the new glues on the market today It should work and last a very long time
I will post asap.

The picture of the tenon is just a scale if scale. I will build the whole bed 1/4 scale and see what it looks like.

Great minds think alike

I just did the same thing with the workbench I'm building. Had a bunch of ash that I milled with the intention of making the top out of, but I came up with a nice maple top that was already made up. Since I didn't have any thick boards for the legs and rails, I glued up the legs and rails. Left the middle piece long for the tenon and left openings for the mortises. Going to cut the tenons to width to fit the mortises, but the thickness is good. Pretty sure I'm going to leave the tenons a little long and bevel the ends for appearance.

you live in N Maine and can't find 2" pine? Aroostook County is nothing but pine forests and potato fields! :D
