Hey Folks,

As promised, here are some photos of the latest shop project.  This is one of those projects for the shop, not from the shop.  For some time, I have wanted to use the north window of the front room as a display window, but the bottom of the window is too high off the floor to make an effective display.  The new platform has the advantage of storage space underneath.

The drawers are 14" overdraw slides, so 15" deep.  I plan to use at least one as a lateral file cabinet for plans etc.

Track lighting and carpet are added here, as shown off by Pugsley and Peggy Tzu.  I eventually will hang a dark curtain as a backdrop for the window.   When that's done, I'll have another picture, or two, for you.

Cheers,
Tom

I'm really having a difficult time visualizing the front 'North' window.

You're shop fronts on Fremont, right? Fremont runs North & South I believe. Thus through my limited skills of navigation I deduce that the front of your shop faces East.

Or does the my world turn in the wrong direction?

Inquiring minds want to know .... (grin)

Hey Dennis,

You're correct, the street does run north and south. The north window is the one on the north side of the front door.

Once the display window is finished, I'll post some pictures from the street side.

Cheers
Tom

Hey drstrip,

It's a rattle can product called "Make it Stone". It doesn't have a lot of opacity, so the hue of the primer shows through. Now that it's done, I think that I should have used a more neutral grey primer. The blue-grey looked fine on my router table, but the shop has concrete floors, while the front room has the brown carpet. I may top coat them with a let down garnet shellac. But not until I've lived with it for awhile first.

Cheers,
Tom

I thought it might be something like that. I've used a similar product, though I don't recall the name. It created a mottled metal effect. As much as I can see from the picture, it looks pretty good in your new space.
