Made a shooting bench over the weekend, it called for 6x6 legs but I think the 4x4 posts will be strong enough.

That looks really solid. And glad to see that it is ambidextrous as well.
Would be so nice to have a backyard that provides enough space to do that.

I am curious about the construction. I'm sure that longer middle leg at the back will get buried and provide solid connection to ground.
But, why? If you ever place that bench on a flat, solid surface it'll be in the way. And should be fine on footers as the other legs.
I'm sure there's a good reason that I'm missing.

I agree, I haven't filled with quikrete yet, I may just cut the excess off the one leg and put it on a block too. the plans called for 3 of the legs to be set in quikrete.. .. very solid the way it is..

Nice looking bench :) . If you're going to leave it in place, I'd definitely put it on a concrete pad just to keep the termites at bay, and not have to move it to mow, etc. Around here, anything like that attracts all kinds of insect life, including wasps, on the underside. I have to spray every year to keep them from eating it or taking up residence. :x
