Today when working in the shop I turned on my dust collector and as usual it sucked, after a few minutes I heard a poof, dust collector is not in the shop it is downstairs, and all of a sudden the collector was sucking twice as good as it was. Oh No, said I, shut it off and went downstairs and had to wait a few minutes for the dust cloud to settle. One of the upper bags poped off the unit and sprayed dust everywhere. The two lower bags where completely full and the upper bags where clogged up. So after a 40 minutes of emptying and shaking out then blasting the bags with compressed air I was back to work. I think I will check them more often in the future

Hey Paul,

I've had similar experiences with my cyclone. After the second episode requiring a full day of clean up, I purchased a proximity sensor for the collection drum. It's been worth every penny since, for both my health and sanity.

Cheers,
Tom

Tom, could you elaborate a bit? What's a proximity detector? where do you put it for a dust collector? how does it let you know there's a problem? Thanks. (not that this is like to happen to me :) Not enough dust.)

Hey Jamie,

The best way to explain it is the Onieda website.
