This is one of my concrete 1841 six pounders. It is going to it's new home in Oregon.
The barrel weighs 270 lbs. and the carriage weighs 150.

They ship on pallets and I have to make sure they can't shift in the crates.
The carriage is bolted down to the pallet.

These can be seen on my website here.

Finished product;
carriage - 295 lbs.
barrel - 398 lbs.

What about the water that gets into the concrete cannon? I am thinking in a cold climate will the water freeze and expand and maybe crack
the cannon ? Maybe you have a plug for each cannon?? I see it tips down anyway, but if left up? Ok tell me you have a small hole under the barrel for a water drain?? Just curious is all.
Nice work

LB,
It certainly takes all day. Plus nine 2 X 4's and three sheets of 1/2" OSB plywood.

There is no drain hole. It would be possible for water to get into the barrel from the muzzle.
I have never had a complaint yet but I guess that if the water did freeze it would expand towards the muzzle and not cause any damage.

Personally, I like the color of the chosen wood for this project.
Where did you get it? Is it a special order from on-line?
I can tell that it is not domestic so what country grows trees like that and what is the name of it?

Actually, the pink wood is the cheapest 2 X 4's that you can get at Home Depot.

Why pink? Is there something specific about it, or is it just for high visibility inside the package to distinguish packing wood from the piece itself?

I have no idea A.J. I do not think it is any kind of preservative.
It's the cheapest board I can buy.

Oh, it comes that way. Never seen that before. I thought you were painting it.
