After 2 years of job hunting and working for Lowe's as a PSA, (Push stuff around), I finally got a job back in the field of Drafting and Design. :-D :D :-D :D :-D :D

I accepted a position today with Cut-Apart Steel Art, a very small structural and artistic steel hand rails, spiral stair cases. I will be the Drafting Supervisor over 1 or maybe 2 draftsmen. The pay is only $2.50 more an hour, and there are not bennies, but at least it's back in my field, and I won't have to be at work by 0530 every morning.

Wish me luck.

Fantastic, the news keeps getting better! 2.50 an hour more is 100 dollars a week in my book.

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. About a week after starting the new job, Jo developed a bad case of Graft Vs. Host. That is the term for rejection in the case of a bone marrow transplant. Since the cells they transplant in create the cells that do the rejecting, (white blood cells), its the Graft, that is rejecting the Host. Jo has been in the hospital for a little over 2 weeks now. First with a rash and now with other problems. We're hoping she can come home by the end of the week, if she can tolerate the pill form of some of these meds she's on. As you might imagine this has put the shed project on hold, and a good deal of everything else. Keep us in your thoughts.

So sorry to hear about Jo's problems. Most sincere good vibes streaming your way.

Congrats on the job. I miss being in front of a CAD screen myself.

Well, not that much (grin)

Well, after 3 solid weeks, we finally got Jo out of the hospital and back home. The GVH has played havoc on her body, she is extremely weak. Worse yet, the Prednisone they have her on to fight the damage from ghe GVH is also sapping her strength. This episode has set her recovery back nearly 6 months and she is back up to 2 doctor visits every week.

Last Friday, I email my new boss about her schedule for this week, and when I showed up to work yesterday, he met me outside and said, "you know Frank, this just ain't shaping up the way I'd expected." I nearly laughed. What an Alpha Hotel! As soon as he finds out that I need extra time out of the office to care for my wife, he fires me. Good riddence! So, I'm back to the ranks of the unemployed, but at least I'm not having to deal with the stress of that job and the stress of a boss who regularly blows up and throws temper tantrums in the office. I'm getting a little long in the tooth to be putting up with such immature Sierra Holtels as him. While I loved working back in the field and designing again, this guy's personality and constant yelling made for a toxic environment to work in. I was within a week or two of quitting anyway. It still ticks me off though.

He will get his one day, but for now you don'tneed to worry about it. Hope your love continues to get better, and that other good things are around the corner.

Take care Frank,

eric

Sorry to hear about your problems, hope something will come together.

The big red R outsourced my job and laid me off last year.

Yeah, I think that loosing this job was really a blessing. Jo requires a LOT of help just now. This bout with GVH has left her extremely weak. If I were still working for Lowe's I'd have to take time off and risk loosing that anyway.

Heading off to the unemployment office this week to see about the possibility of drawing unemployment, and getting some grant money for Project Management training. Wish me luck.
