Yeah I am stuck I don't like being stuck.. Stuck up the creek with out a paddle.. Only this time stuck up the creek with out a sander to make a paddle...

If anyone wants the job of building me a 12" round and 18" long round wooden cylinder built from wood I would be more then happy to pay the price. The things going to have to be made on a big lathe and turned down the to the 12" round and have a 5/8 hole up the middle bored into it..

The one I built has to much of a hope. I am going to use the thing to make some paddles but the little hope not making it very easy going..
Just thought I would throw this out and see if I have any body interested in building me one.

Sounds to me like there is no "hope".



On another note, hand planes have been around for almost as long as sharkskin. And used for much the same purpose.

Can't figure what kind of paddle you're making that wants a sander like the one you're making. I do recommend some version of the breadboard type ends they make. Keeps splintering down where the river's shallow, or you're pushing sideways off rocks. Speed paddles don't need it.

What species you want and how soon do you need it.
I will have to glue up the blanks as any log blanks I have that large are not dry.
If made from kiln dried stock, I can have it up to you inside of a week.

What is the problem bear>?? is it not running true?? if so why not use a chisel or scraper and true it up right on the machine??

L B if your cylinder is true round it may be out of balance. You have probely checked for this but I was just thinking, which gets scarey.
