When I built my new shop I had extra wall plugs installed, but it still seems I never have enough. I'm always unplugging something to plug in something else.
My wife had a back up power supply at work that died. Cheaper to buy a new one than replace the battery. I took the battery and the internal electronics out of it and wired the plugs straight to the 115 volt input. Great multiple output plug box.
I have it mounted over a bench and have a scroll saw and two stationary belt sanders plugged into it. I never use but one at a time, but now I don't have to bother with plugging the one I'm using into the wall socket.

Nice save, George. I threw a UPS in the trash a couple years ago - never thought about gutting it. Could have saved a couple $$. . I do use power strips for the same reason you mentioned tho. _________________ Gene
