Hi,
I tried to make something a bit different and have my first attempt at carving.
11" high Horse Chestnut.

ADIE: Outstanding !!! If you would please, give some details on the joinery twixt the two timbers. What was your smoothing and texturing regime?
Thanks also for reminding me that woodworking does not have to be just square or spiny.

Hello mate, Thanks for the interest.

The top dish is housed into the base and glued with epoxy resin, carving is by hand. The texturing was done with a Pyro. Sanding to 600 grit on the lathe (exept the ear) :lol:

Very interesting piece-- Incredibly enough this is the second carved ear I've seen done in the last few months-- I think your rendition is also a very thoughtful and your creativity and skill (I love the effect on the base for example) definately shows.

fyi, the other video is 'ear (pardon the pun...) and is both worth watching and quite moving especially if you are familiar with Steve and his work)
