What is that name and what is special about the joint?

Ok, Ralph, I'll go out on a limb here.

Here where I live every wooden water tank I've seen has been a staved vessel. Every one has utilized either T&G or splined joinery. I'm not sure how or where a dovetail joint would be applicable. Perhaps there's a cultural barrier here? (grin)

I was looking for a 'Cistern' Dovetail See HERE

It was (is?) used to join the corners of wooden water tanks and the main feature is the tails and pins are of equal size rendering the maximum strength.
