Well I met with the surgen about the MRI on my back . He said there was nothing he could do except give me more pain pills. (I am going to get a second opinion ) Also he said the MRI showed a mass on the left Kidney. So Friday I am going to get a cat scan to get a better look at the mass. As my daughter says : " At least the good thing about a kidney is you only need one!. The wife is really worried , but I just cann't get worried about it. Cancer is a killer. But I never feared dying. What I have always feared was laying around for years in bad pain like my father did!On that note I have been able to walk some and the more I walk the better I feel , so I still have hope. I missed out on our church's mission trip to Cuba but there will always be more trips.

Don't panic yet, Dad had a kidney removed and had many good years after that. Tumors in kidnesys are often very much contained. God Bless, ron

I would certainly get a second opinion on your back. I just had an MRI on my spine and the diagnosis is clearly NOT the "simple back muscle strain" that my doc was convinced was causing my pain.

You should ask the doc for a referral to a specialist as well.

Please let us know if there is anything we can do-- you know you are in our thoughts. I agree with you and the others that a second opinion is definately called for in the case of your back

Good luck with the cat scan, hopefully all will be well- please let us know and know that we are here for you
Lawrence

Thoughts and Prayers from here Don. Get that 2nd opinion for sure and maybe check out a Dr of Osteopathy, DO. I've had lots of back problems over the years and visit my DO often.

Doctors are practising - and their opinions are not chiselled in stone! Get another opinion that has some clarity not just "can't do anything about this". In my book that is entirely the wrong answer from a doctor.

Two people in my family had breast cancer and won. They insisted on getting good usable answers. It wasn't always good news but they had as much information as they could get from the doctors.

Keep us posted and prayers launched from Grand Rapids, MI.

Definitely get a second opinion. I suffered with back pain for more than 10 years. I went to more than a dozen doctors, surgeons, pain clinics, physical therapists and had more than a dozen MRIs. I even went to the U of Michigan and was told there was nothing they could do. I finally went to a doctor at CINN in Chicago, and the first thing he said is "Why couldn't the other doctors see this?" I had 2 vertebrae that were practically touching, there was no disc left. He performed surgery, fusing the vertebrae. It took a couple of years but the pain is only about 10% what it once was. I can now sit though ball games and school programs. There is still pain, but nowhere near what it once was.

Have you tried the Cleveland Clinic? I was scheduled to go there next if Chicago didn't work out. My wife's cousin and his daughter both had back surgery there. They seemed to benefit greatly from it.

Best of luck to you, and don't stop fighting.

Cleveland is definately on my list. My rich cousin goes to the surgen who works on the Cavilers and he said the last time I had surgery he could get me in to him. The problem is my wife suffers panic attacks and cannot drive to cleveland or columbus. So unless it gets worse cleveland is on hold.
