Hello folks...long time! With the makings of a new shop, a new location etc.etc... I'm hopefully back in the loop. I've missed you all but have been looking to the best of my ability. You haven't let me down!

I just completed another pine quickie for my brother-in-law and new wife to be. Thought a blanket chest for the bed end might work. Had 4 days to "have at" the project so....here's the results. Be kind in your appraisals! Actually, it's nice to be able to share and get any and all feedback...I welcome any good advice. Thanks for looking and for having me back..

All the Best,
Bruce

Bruce, pine or not, you done good!!! I love the scrollwork and those box joints (I don't think they're dovetails....if I'm wrong--I'm sorry!!!) are the icing on the blanket chest.

Great job, looks great, and I'm sure the recipients will love it forever!!

Awesome looking chest-- I love the "snail head" scroll (I've seen that shape before (I believe in Texas) and always liked it and reckoned it reminded me of a snail head)

Did you do the inscription by hand-held router? If so you must have a very steady hand as it looks great

Well done and thanks for sharing

Lawrence

I'm just piling on here...but very nice blanket chest. I love it. And for as much criticism as pine takes...a well constructed piece from pine will last generations.

They will cherish that piece. No doubt.

Nice work Bruce. Great joinery that really shows the care and attention to detail that went into it. Should last for their grand kids.

Dang... that's some impressive joinery. I mean, flawless from where I sit.

And the carving in the lid... that's something they'll be proud to show off...

Very nice indeed. Just goes to show you that you don't have to have exotic or expensive wood to make an heirloom.

Keep it up, you should be proud.

Thank you all for the kind words. To answer your question Lawrence, I used a Bosch colt hand held router for the inscription in the cover. It's a detail I hope they enjoy. Again, thanks to you all fro the words and inspiration. Keep up the good work.

All the Best,
Bruce

Thanks for the kind welcome Roger. I am relatively new to woodworking and I have learned a great deal from the forum. I have a few projects in mind for the next few months and if I can figure out how to post them I will. I dont want to hijack this post from Bruce, his projects are awesome. Thanks again. Mark
