Well, I needed to improve things in the shop and my out feed table and lack of a router table seemed like a good place to start.

Well here is what I had going before.

Image
See "old out feed table"

Here are some supplies for woodworking things a bit. (Wood not pictured.) Ash is a #@$%^& hard wood, I snapped off a couple screws even with pre drilling. )

Image
See "Supplies incra"

Here is the result. Its 36 by 60, with four drawers and access window for router with a dust port in the rear. Lower storage for my Miter saw.

See "New Router table out feed combo"

Qiuck question. Air flow to cool router ... do I need to put some ventilation in aside from the air flow from above the table when vaccume is on.

Thanks all,

James

James, I have the Incra downdraft box and it has no vents in it, so you should be fine.

NOW THATS A GREAT SET UP! I wish I had that kind of space.

I agree with Larry, you're dust collection should allow for enough cooling to prevent any problems.

James, I agree with "OLD" what's his name above and Frank.
You should be just fine.

There has been times when I feel that the fence DC is pulling more air then the downdraft.

Ash is a hard wood, but not as hard as old growth oak that has been "aging" for over 100 years. I made a bench out of some for a friend that had a board that had been in his grandfathers barn for over one hundred years. It ruined my planner blades, dulled a brand new carbide saw blade, and I had to drill the pilot holes for the screws to within .010 of the screws outside diameter to keep the screws from breaking! The bench was nice but I figure I lost fifty dollars or more on the order.

You don't do anything half way to you, James?

Very nice work.

Dang... now that's one heck of a router table! Looks like it will serve you for quite a few years...

very nice looking table-- the big top will really come in handy for maintaining control. As for the vents, I agree with the others in that I can't see needing it for cooing, but a sliding vent hole may be to your advantage to keep the dust collector from getting "air starved"-- I figure try it out and see if you need it...

Very nice job,
Lawrence

Yikes!

I need to go make mine bigger.

until I do very nice very nice.

my first table was a small sheet of hardboard two sided tape to the base and the router clamped in a wood
vise.

Great design!!! Especially like the having the extra vise. Can't tell you how many times I wish I put a vise on my outfeed table.

James,
Massive unit. I like it.

I do have one question, are there slots for your miter guage to run off the table saw top? I can't see them in the photo. Are they yet to be done?

Anyway, I've been thinking of a better runoff table for my table saw and seeing projects like yours keeps me inspired.
