Here's a couple of very recent pictures of my shops - left one is the Assembly/finishing shop and right one is the machine shop. They are small as according to the city planner you don't need plans, permits, or anything else if your outbuilding is less than 120 sq feet and less than 13 feet tall - He didn't mention anything about how many you could have :D

Hey Larry, lookie there in the back at the big yellow thing!
Originally, I had planned on the dust collector outside but after I got it I figured I had spent so much money on it that it belonged inside. It's kind of noisey and will be put outside and I'll make a covering over it with lots of air circulation.
Note, my neighbor up the street is a carpenter and without Bob this project would not have turned out so well.

Don - when you're in the neighborhood, come on over and check'em out.

Looking great, Paul! I'll be by with a 'shop-warming' gift in the next few days.
So ... if I'm hearing you ... there is nothing stopping you from putting up a 'Bench/tool Room' to compliment your 'Machine' room and 'Finish' room?
BTW Did you get any of that ancient Kaury at last meeting?
good luck,
Don

I love it, Paul! Are you planning on running the DC into the second building? Even if you're not, I would put a Wye at the last tool with a cap on one end in case you ever decide to.

I like all the finishing details you did to the outside, too. great job!

Thanks all! I have had so many projects (learning experiences) on hold awaiting the shops - projects like a Morris Chair (for me), new arts&crafts bedroom set, a couch (sized for my wife & me), a dining room set (going to try chairs, yeah). Lot's of fun things to do.

Hi Don,
No, I did look and the more I looked the more I liked but couldn't see spending so much money on wood, even if it 50,000 year old Kaury. No plans at the moment for a Bench/Tool room.

Larry - I hadn't thought about DC in the Assembly/Finishing shop as have a shopvac & dust deputy (they work great - bought the dust deputy when first came out). I'm hoping to deep the dust and debri in that shop to a minimum (hopefully just that made from minor adjustments with chisels & planes).
