 Post subject: bullet pen question ?

hi all ,

just wondering where to get pen kits for bullet casings , and what size casings i need to make it work ? my future son inlaw went out target shooting the other day and brought home some diffrent casings . he asked if one or more of them could be turned into pens , any ideas would be great . as always , thanks in advance and happy new year to everybody here in my extended family :0)

I haven't made them but BeePaw (his forum name) has. He uses .308 cartridges. He uses a brass tape to put on the tube to make it fit. I think he told me 5" enlarges it enough. I don't know all the details but maybe you can e-mail or pm him to get the particulars. He may have put something on the forum a few months back that describes it.

I'll call him and tell him you have a question about it and maybe he will post something.

Penn State sells both .30 and .50 caliber kits, don't know if that is of any help.

True, but the kits from Penn State, include the brass, that isn't real brass and is already perfectly sized for the pen. They really don't allow the use of Real spent casings.

I use 308 cartridges and purchase the basic 7mm twist pen kit from Rockler.
