Around here the local Hyvee grocery stores and Casey's gas stations have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to fly the WWII vets to Washington to see the WWII memorial, there has been several flights and the guys that have went say that they were treated like royalty--as should all vets!!!!

http://www.centraliowahonorflight.org/index.html

They have them going from all different places too.

Great stuff, nice to see companies honoring vets in any way.

Thanks Frank for the links- and THANK YOU to all of the companies that support us... it is truly appreciated, never expected, and makes me so grateful-- places that have recently helped enhance my family's lives through strong military support programs-

Sea World-- my family and I have gone to Sea world for free every year for the last 4+ years... the public and vocal support of the military by Anheiser Bush is simply amazing

Disney- This year, Disney sent me (and every other military member that applied) to Disneyland for FREE for 3 days-- my family's tickets were greatly (GREATLY) discounted. When we got there, our first night out to eat was at the House of Blues-- where they offered a 25% military discount...

Lowes/Home Depot-- our local Lowes and Home Depot both offer 10% military discounts to active duty military every day-- I know this is a store-by-store manager choice (at head office urging evidently)-- but no matter who made the decision it is a massive one in a military town

a local hardware store down the road has either greatly discounted or donated hundreds of dollars in paint, supplies, etc. for morale booths, concession stands, dining ins, and several other events. The owner/manager's only request in return is that when we need something else for a future event we come in and ask him to donate something else... and not give public recognition for it. The last time I went in and he gave us some paint I gave him a pen I made and offered to do a display for him if/when they get in a carvewright (the company is an Ace--some stores carry the machines)-- it truly is the least I can do

The other local businesses that discount, donate, or otherwise support us are too many to list--- and of course there are you guys... who send packages to deployed friends, family, and even balding slightly overweight Sergeants you only know from the internet. Words cannot describe the gratitude I feel, and I only hope I can pass on a percentage of the good will I've received to others.

I appreciate it-- truly I do... but there's many many more on this site that have (and still do) serve/d... and many in not as "comfy" of locales as some of the ones I've gone to, and certainly without the fanfare I've (gratefully, underservedly, and humbly) received--

How's about a roll call for our vets out there? Who has served/where and when/and what branch?
Lawrence
