I'm thinking about adding some 4 foot T-8 fixtures with electronic ballasts to the gar-opps I mean single space shop. I've read an article to paint the ceiling with flat white paint to create a more uniform distribution of the light.

I would think that a gloss paint would make it brighter. Any comments from your experiences?

use flat white it is brighter then gloss, if you can get titanium white you should consider that pricy but very white.

Hi Mango,

Thanks for the quick reply. Any comments on T-8 vs. T-12.

From what I have read it seems I want to go with the T-8 electronic with cold weather start. Gets a little colder here than where you are.

t-8 and cold weather you have me there. you will save money on your electirc bill however with t-8 and very soon you will not be able to get balllasts for the old type anyway in fact we cannot get them anymore except in a cheap fixture. they will produce bulbs for a few more years then no more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have CFL in our walk in fridge and in our walk in freezer If they are turned off then it takes forever for them to warm up. however they burn 24/7 as the old ones did so we save money.

I love my t-8 lights, no flickering, no humming, cold weather not too much of a problem here.
