Our internet provider, Clearwire wireless, updated their equipment recently, promising faster internet speeds, and sent us a new modem which I just installed. Speed check:
download = 5224 kps
upload = 464 kps
Loaded the proposed health care bill (900+ pages) in less than two seconds.

Check your speed at this link. (That dust disappearing over the horizon will be me.)

Unfortunately, that is about the same amount of time most congressmen have devoted to reading the bill. :(

Looks like I have twice the download speed as you and about the same upload speed.

I've got Time Warner Roadrunner via Earthlink. AT&T is going through the neighborhood, tearing up lawns to install competing broad band service.

EDIT: Oops! I was off by 1 digit when I read your speed. You are about 5X my download speed. WOW!!!! that is fast.

Charter "HI-Speed" Rochester, MN. 4208 Dn 440 Up

Whatever happened to the big fibre optic push of a few years ago? Wasn't that supposed to be the be all- end all for high speed ? Seems to me that would be an interesting stimulus project to move the country forward in the coms future.

Your maximum speed is set by equipment and ISP. However, the speed up to that maximum, at any given time, is determined mostly by the load on the internet path between you and a specific website. So your speed may vary considerably during a typical day.
