|
|
These are pics of a library I installed last weekend for a church. The wood was poplar and a chestnut stain with waterbourne lacquer finish. I have to say that the poplar stained very well. I was a little skeptical of staining it at first, but it turned out very nice. The stain evened out all of the different colors in the wood very nicely.
The customers were very happy with it and so was I!

Very nice. The poplar turned out with good even color and looks quite " rich " for poplar. The backs though, are they birch ply or did you pick up some poplar ply. I really like the extended pilaster look at the corners.

OK, so I'm looking at this and I'm thinking "Oh, boy, he stained the piece..."
Then, I saw the pics and thought "WOAH! Nice stain job!"
Now, that's some seriously awesome work. _________________ * http://tomsworkbench.com

Thanks for the compliments!
Ok, to answer a couple of questions. Mango, the stain I use is called Sherwood from Shermin Williams. It was a chestnut base. I love there stain! It is some great stuff!!!!!
Roger, I used 1/4" poplar plywood for all the backs.
By the way, all doors and drawers have finger pulls. The corner cabinets have shelves in them too, I just forgot to load them on the trailer that day!!! |

Nice - verrrrrrrrryyyy nice.
It must have been a great feeling seeing that all come together in it's own space. There have been lots of ooohs and aaahs over the stain for good reason; you did a fantastic job!

I can't believe those are Poplar, they look fantastic. I would have said Poplar couldn't look that good, but what do I know.
