WWA Info Exchange

Well I won't be doing much until the first of the year. One of the schools where I sub at called and they need an industrial arts sub until the first of the year, so I won't be working in my shop. In Ohio you can sub in any field for less than a week,as long as you are licensed, but for longer than a week you have to be licensed for that field and I am the only sub in the area who is licensed for Industrial arts and Industrial technology. So far this year I taught French, Spanish, art, band ,language arts,science and FFA. Now I get to teach what I am licensed in.

Teaching as a sub is really more like baby sitting today. Most of the lessons are on "google class room" and they put their answers in "google docs". So I basicly just walk around the room and make sure they are not watching U tube on their computers .Occasionly I get to teach an I A class or science class. Evan the math classes are more of how to use a graphing calculator than actually doing the math! But it does get me around younger people rather than spending my time with old people.

That is one of the things I miss about the Volunteer "job" at the high school metal shop I had, till the Covid hit and then the new teacher that couldn't have a volunteer that knew more about machining than he did, finished the fun. It was really great seeing when a student "Got it" after something like turning a single point thread on a lathe. Then There just arent many of the "old people"
left that I even know any longer.

Lew I know where you are coming from, have subbed for teachers at the vocational school who knew very little about what they were teaching!
