Last month We returned from a four day vacation to find signs on the farm where I have been care taker for over thirty years that stated "no hunting" the farm has been leased by a comerical deer hunting company. When I called the son of the woman who owned the farm he refused to talk to me. And said he would meet with me at a later date. When I saw his car at the farm our days later I called about meeting and he said I sounded like I had a cold and he could not meet with me. No communication for a month, then he called to say he was going back to Florida and that our family never did have permission to hunt And I had never called him about meeting to discuss the problem Since I had used my cell phone I stated the days and times I had called. I printed out copies of bills that I had submitted four the last five years that had lawn mowing, repair bills, and months of "care taking", plus copies of checks that they had paid us. Thus establishing that I was their caretaker. and since our "contract" as care taker did not state otherwise, I had the authority to give my nephew permission to hunt the same as I had authority to hire roof repairs, and furnace repairs. While I did not get back hunting rights since he had signed a contract, he offered to double what they were paying us as caretakers. I may be just a junkyard farmer/ local handy man , but I am an educated one and experienced in legal conflicts.
