How cool is this? We went to Lake Texoma for a two day guided fishing trip for striped bass. It's a 700 mile round trip for us.
We thought the weather was going to ruin the trip It was going to be very windy and raining. Turns out it was only the wind we had to worry about.
We had a good guide. He put us on fish everywhere we went.
We killed them.
We threw 6" long top water plugs towards the banks in about 3' to 4' of water. The big stripers were slamming the shad there and we did very well.
When the top water bite ended we changed to lead head swim jigs in 10' of water and continued to boat fish.

At Texoma, on the Texas/ Oklahoma border, the striped bass limit is 10 fish per day per person. Each person is only allowed to keep 2 fish per day over 20".

We limited out both days. We caught a lot of fish over 20" but had to let them go after we got our 2 fish each.
The first day we caught about 70 fish.
Maybe 50 the next day.

It was great fun.

On the second day, we also caught 7 white bass in addition to our Stripers.
We now have a freezer full of real good fish fillets.

Nice job Zulu! A buddy of mine went there years ago and had similar results.

We had some awesome years of striper fishing on the Delaware Bay prior to Hurricance Sandy and I believe overfishing added to the preent downturn. Hopefully recent changes to the regs here will improve the fishery again.

Yes, the freezer is full. the week before we caught these Stripers, we went to Lake Conroe and brought home 17 catfish in the 3 to 4 lb. range.
We need a bigger freezer.
