Here( I hope) are some pictures of how my grandson helped me to build a retaining wall. The first problem we had was when we tried to get the first row leveled the blocks kept digging into the gravel. We solved that problem by laying down steel bat stock like rail road tracks to slide the blocks on. We added more drain lines to prevent the wall from heaving when the ground froze in the winter. The whole time the job was inspected by the inspector. After the first row was laid it was a simple job to lay the rest. We threw a handful on lime over each block, which allowed the next row to easily slide into place.
