After spending most of the day yesterday looking for a clog in the duct work, today I decided to see if maybe the cyclone dust collector itself was clogged. The collecting drum was completely full, and sawdust was packed in the collector above it. I took the pan off the bottom of the filter, and it was full. Then I found the filter was full of impacted dust. 5 33 gallon trash bags of sawdust later, I turned it on, and it tried to suck the paint off the wall! I think I'll check it every couple of days from now on.

Hey Larry,

I feel for you brother.
I have a two story cyclone that's had that same problem, twice. Unfortunately, I hadn't learned after the first time. After the second time I installed a proximity sensor in the drum lid. Now, if the blue light on the wall stays lit after the machine is shut off, then it's time for a new drum liner.

Cheers,
Tom

Guess I'm leading a charmed life. Haven't had such a problem. But it reminds me to check the drum. It's outside os kinda out of mind. Thanks for the brain thump, Larry.

When I had a big Dc I would notice when the bag got full and the dust was all the way to the impeller. The DC quit sucking dust. I could really tell bc the too performance changed for the worse.
Once emptied It ran like a champ.

Now that I use a festool CT 26 and 22. They dont have the capacity my old one had.

So now every week before I take the trash out and or when I finish a project I empty it whether it needs it or not

Things just seem to run nicer for me.
