Hey Folks,

Sad to say, one of Seattle's oldest businesses is closing its doors. Daly's ProFin has always been my go to wipe on finish of choice, but I certainly don't buy enough to pay anyone's salary.

Cheers,
Tom

Yeah, Tom, as we all know, the internet is causing a lot of businesses to close. I still like to go to real stores and touch stuff. I still have a Woodcraft about an hour away and go there often.

Tom,

I feel your pain. I have been gone for about 4 years and returned to the USA last June. Many of my old haunts are gone. One in particular I miss a warehouse that sold builders surplus , Recycled doors, and various items. it was a real cool place.

Even my go to hardware/ lumber yard has cut back on inventory. Its hard for me to even find decent screws.

That's a shame when that happens. The oldest continuously operating hardware store in the country right here in Worcester, Ma closed last year Established in 1782.

I spent a lot of time in there before I retired. was a great place.

Yeah, heard the news. Sad day indeed. Is it really 'coz of on line commerce that's causing them to fold? We've got a great paint/finish outlet up here in Mt Vernon that carries a few of Daly's products and can/could, of course ordered anything I requested. They will be sorely missed to be sure. I for one have never even considered buying finish material on line. The people at Karl's (my local outlet) and the Daly people have always been extremely helpful in selecting material and paint goods for my projects.

"It is the best of times. it is the worst of times."

With the internet we can get lots of stuff....................the last of 3 local hardware stores in my area is for sale, sad to report.

Small service business' is still viable............Small retail is in serious trouble.
