How cool is this?

Several years back, my lovely wife cut the top off a store bought pineapple and stuck it in dirt. It grew.
Two years later it made a pineapple. We were astonished! The pineapple grew and started to ripen. My wife said she would harvest it tomorrow. The raccoons ate it that night.

But the plant made babies. We transplanted them and the next year we had another pineapple. We ate that one! It was delicious!

But all those babies made more babies.
This year we have 7 pineapples growing. We just harvested 4 of them. If I can smell them when I walk by, so can the raccoons.

They will continue to ripen for about 2 or 3 days in the window then we get to eat them. We already ate one.

But they all made more babies!!! We now have about 30 plants that should bear fruit in another year.
The tops of these will also be cut off and planted.

:D :D :D :D

Hi,
Do you think pineapples would grow here in this cold country??? In the house, maybe?
Between all of the cannons (and other simliar stuff) that we saw at your place and the pineapples, you are going to run out of space. :)

Hi Norm,
Good to hear from you. I am almost out of those oak 4 X 4's that you brought to me.
They have sure come in handy.

And I have been out of room for a long time.

The pineapples need a lot of sun and you can't let them freeze.
Cut the top off a store bought pineapple and try it. You don't really have anything to lose.

Soon you should have enough for both you and the raccoons. Best of all worlds.

We should have planted a pineapple. We planted a seed my three year old daughter found in a grapefruit (forty years ago) And while we have probably the only grapefruit tree in Ohio, we have yet to get a grapefruit.
