I asked in the turning forum about turning alabaster but I guess nobodies got any experience with it. The other question I have is ... what about cutting it on the band saw? A few sites mention doing it but I'm loathe to experiment on my saw blades. I've got a 3tpi carbide tipped blade however I'm concerned that that's a bit too course for the material. If you've had any success cutting alabaster on a band saw I'd love to get some advice. My little diamond tile wet saw only has about a 1" (thickness) capacity so I need to find a way to slab this chunk down for some possible inlays.

I saw the post in turning forum but thought you would get some answers. I hope this helps.

Great article, NT. Thanks!

Totally zoned on the use of my sawsall for cutting the stuff. Looks like I've got a project for today thanks to you.
