My email through yahoo was hijacked and emails were sent to every one in my address book to connect to a picture sight. How can I get rid of it!I have Norton anti virus but it obviously did no good!

1. Change your yahoo password ASAP.
2. You have a Trojan. Run anti-virus software (not Norton -- my opinion) to get rid of the Trojan. I use AVG, Avast is used by a lot of member here with great success.
3. Contact all of your email contacts extending your apologies and telling them you are taking care of it.
4. When your computer is fixed, email everyone again and tell them it is fixed.
5. When you hear of a large email provider who has been hacked, change your password, even if it's not your provider.

(This happened to me last October, and AT&T changed my password when they realized I had a Trojan, and I had to call them to get it reset.)

Never open an email link, even from a friend, that doesn't look right. Be very wary of links in emails. I have a friend who opened my email and clicked on the link just because I'm so careful. Oops....it cost her $70 for a PC tech to rid her laptop of the Trojan. My brother just had a new hard drive put in his computer when a PC tech couldn't rid his hard drive of two Trojans. It's a nasty world out there, Donald. We have to be so diligent about our fun PC toys.

Good Luck

Verna

I ran malware anti virus scan and Norton both. But when I tried to change my password Yahoo said I could not do it online I would have to do it by text. But I don't have a cell phone so texting is out ! So until my boy can get it changed there isn't any more that I know of to do.

Donald, that means that Yahoo changed your password for you, so be patient and wait for your son. I was out of town camping without cell service when the Trojan hit me. I couldn't take care of it for 3 days until I got back in town. I sympathize with you. Patience is a virtue in this case.

Not that it couldn't be some sort of malicious Trojan, but my money would be elsewhere. http://www.forbes.com/sites/jameslyne/2 ... passwords/

That's why the best software would not have found it on your computer.
