Saw some pics on TV last night. They called them winter tumbleweeds. Some were balls and others looked like wheels. Pretty cool looking.

Why would anyone want to roll snow? Is that like some kind of outdoor entertainment activity like snow angels?

If the wind is strong enough anything will roll, even houses and semi trucks. I've never seen them but, I guess if mother nature gets a good chunk of snow together and the wind is strong enough to get it going good, she makes rather large snowballs. :-D

Big snow balls are the stuff big snowmen are made out of! You make 3 and stack them! A few stones, a pipe and scarf and there it is! At least in PA.................

Central Indiana had Snow Rollers (Snow Roll Balls) on February 12, 2003. It's caused by winds with snow, with the wind just rolling up the snow into a ball. Many thought someone had tried making snowmen, until the massive number of Snow Rollers were found, making it impossible for humans to have done anything. Here's some pictures from 11 years ago:

Too cold here to make a snowball. Snow moves from one place to another in great drifts instead.
