Well, it looks like it's working. (knock on wood)

There is still lots to do, i.e. change some graphics, etc. I pruned most of the robot-generated users (about 34,000). During the process some of you might have been mis-configured. My apologies. Send me an email with your username and I'll try to get it straightened out.

The new scripts provide many new features. Explore and tell me what you like and don't like. Feel free to post any thoughts here since this is the forum viewed the most often.

It looks like the images posted with the old scripts will still work. I'm going to attempt hunting down the bad files which generated the malware warnings and if successful, perhaps we can keep them after all.

Jim

Jim,
Thanks for doing whatever you did to allow the old images to stay alive.
This forum has great picture viewing capabilities. It is one of the best ways for all of us to show off our work.
I pass out the forum link to my pictures all the time.
Here are just two of the links I pass on a whole lot.

Thanks again,
Zulu :D

Jim, thanks for taking care of this upgrade. Everything looks good and will get better as you tweak it. Just to let you know, I am still getting a malware error on the "New friend in the shop" post about Anders bandsaw. And yes, I'm using Chrome.

Ditto what John said.

having some problems with image uploads. It's not supposed to be allowing such large images. Oh well...

BTW, that's Rushmore, one of eight American Bulldog puppies we had last September. Here's a link to their story and yes, they're all gone.

Thanks for the kind words but all this effort follows years of neglect brought on by fear of screwing everything up. Trust me, the only thing that qualifies me for this position is knowing what a chmod does.

As for the colors, after I get some sleep I'll try to make things look like they once did unless you all would prefer this color scheme???

Haven't tested the email or messaging functions yet. Any volunteers?

Thanks again,
Jim

I KNOW that this took quite a bit of work ... Nice Job!

My private messages are all still here.

I PMed you a short message to test.

Personally, I liked the old colors. Too much white is like staring into a light bulb.

Now, let me wander around and see if I can find my way about ...

:D

I like the new layout, Jim. The color doesn't matter that much to me. The tans of the old format are fine, the blues of the new one is fine.

Thanks for all that you have done. I'll be even more thankful when I hit submit and I'm sure I won't get the "debug" error!!!

Wow, Jim....I had a hard time remembering my password...

Looks great to me, I have been peeking around to see what was what.

Although since Duane had to quit woodworking I don't post much on here, I still check in all of the time.

Thanks for doing this great update, I can't imagine the time and stress it took.

Vicki

Actually, if you log out and then follow the register link, you'll find a Maze question. Evidently the spambots have these boards figured out - already 20+ new registrations today since firing it up. Let's see if they know anything about woodworking. :-D

JIM M: Good one on the maze ? I see that it changes with each transaction. I notice that at the bottom of the Forum index page that it shows that "GOOGLE BOT" and one other one (don't remember name) earlier today "....?... BOT" were shown as registered users. Is that to show that their service is listing WWA on their result pages?

As with all changes this will take some getting used to. Color is not as warm as the tans were and some of the detail features are taking a while to learn and figure out. Thanks for the effort, planning, research and dedication to this thing of ours by making it better

I'm with ERIC on the MAZE, that experience was a real educator!

Thanks everyone although I'd like to get a week of no serious problems under the belt before breaking out the champagne.

About the Google Bot, this new board comes already configured with user accounts specifically for the major search engines. The new scripts recognize the search bots and usher them around the place to make sure we're portrayed in the best light. Not spambots at all, who btw haven't got a woodworking question right, yet. :D

Still here. I don't post very often, but I read almost every day. Health hasn't been good past 18 months.

Forum looks good. Good job, Jim.
