I was recovering from a hip replacement this spring so I did not get to go watch the local basket ball teams at the state finals where both of the girls teams were runner ups. And one boys team won the state championship. But I am able to go watch both of the boys baseball teams play in the final four! We may be a simple country county with only two state schools but we do love our ball teams! ( As long as the ball is round)

Small towns and sports are great. All the kids get to play and the whole town backs them totally. Good for the kids and good for the town. Our grandkids made it to State final (won, too) and the entire town traveled several hundred miles for the game. It happened to be football, but would have been the same for any other sport.

We can only wish that we could get the same support from parents other than players' in Science Olympiad or First Leggo League ....
