At the Wayne county fair (Ohio ) I stopped as I do every year to check out the school wood working projects. And I can truely say we have a lot of good woodworkers comming up through the schools. Even my wife noticed that some of the larger projects were made by girls! There are a lot of younger people doing something besides playing with computers these days.

And there always will be! But I reckon some of the most talented will be using both!

Computers frustrate me too easily. Woodworking doesn't, it relaxes. No nags, no defiant error messages, no bluescreens.

The females are certainly as creative and coordinated as the male students, but there were a number of them every class who were banned from the tablesaw because they were too short to clear a board past the blade. They took it in stride pretty well.

Now watching a 5'1" 85 pounder trying to use a scrub plane was pretty funny sometimes. Best to have a "ladies bench" about eight lower than the guys' so they can get some leg into it.

I use both and find it a good blend for design.
