At one time we were talking about baldeagles in the chat room IIRC, and just recently found the following site.

http://www.wildearth.tv/static/wildeart ... agles.html

It is trully amazing to watch. Plus it has a chat room adjacent to the cam that is over the nest.

Hi Wayne -

We're really fortunate here where we live to be located so close to American bald eagle breeding territory. Quite frequently we'll have eagle(s) soaring overhead. The Skagit River valley has seen a heartwhelming recovery of our American icon.

Last year when going out to the woods to cut fire wood I saw a bald eagle sitting in a tree looking out over the corn stuble. I did not realise what kind of large bird it was untill it took flight circled around and landed further down the woods line. They are a truely beautiful bird!

Hey Guys,

On the hill overlooking the lab where I work there is an eagles' nest. There are a pair of eagles the return to it every year. This time of year, if you spend any time outdoors, you are likely to see their mating spiral, when they lock talons and spiral down while locked together.

There are at least two more nesting trees within the Seattle's boundaries that I know of. We are lucky to have the habitat they need right here in the city.

Tom

They look even bigger when you have a small dog and they're circling!

We are very fortunate to have Wedge Tailed eagles around our house almost daily. They are truly magnificent with up to a 7.5 foot wingspan.

I love watching them.

I saw my first Bald Eagle two years ago on my way to Montgomery Vermont.
It was soaring over a beaver pond on the side of the road. They are even more striking for their white head.

I've never seen a talon locked spiral though, and will have tokeep my eyes peeled. Thanks Tom!

Eric

Reminds me of the story about the red neck the ranger caught roasting a spotted owl. The redneck told the ranger he thought they were mountain quail and he had been eating them for a week. The ranger decided to let him off with a warning since he was from out of state and obviously ignorant of what they were. But then he asked :" Since you have been eating them for a week, do they really taste like quail? " The redneck replied ," No , they are more like somewhere between a bald eagle and a whooping crane in taste !"
