the week after the Tsunami, my step mum was here her daughter and husband too. we had a great time.

but the Doctor called

Mrs.Mango has breast cancer. so these ensuing weeks have been an education a rather rapid education still yet an education.

Great news as great can get.

It did not leave her breast. the lip-nodes attest it was contained. they removed the cancer lumpectomy.

tested the sentinel lip-nodes negative

she will have to go through 7 weeks of radiation.

that means exposing herself to stranger 5 days a week for seven weeks . this women buttons every button on her blouse...

I am freaking happy it was contained. however the emotions she will go though as the radiation changes her "appearance" on the breast I will need a lot of grace to support her. so prayers and good thoughts are very welcome.

Mango -

Having recently gone through cancer treatment ourselves, You have our heart felt sympathy, and hopes for a speedy recovery. Cancer affects the whole family, and the initial anxiety and information frustration is considerable. We found online support groups to be a great source of information and help generally. Also informal groups of other patients met during therapy. Attitude is a very significant factor and these connections really do help.

A couple of links are listed below. A google search would turn up others. MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is a world renowned treatment center and has numerous web pages. (Their web pages are not the greatest, but we were very impressed with the place itself.)

Please keep us posted, and know that you are in our thoughts.

Mango,

You know you and the Mrs. are in this boy's prayers. I know how chilling the "C" word can be when you hear it. It sounds like it was caught early enough.

Just give her a hug from all her unknown (and known) WWA friends.

Mango m'man ... the prognosis sounds wonderful, so glad it was caught in the early stages. In the short time I've had the privilege of being part of this community I've come to care about y'all as close friends. Please give the Mango Mrs one of the numerous warm hugs attached to this message. And save a few for yerself as well.

Mango, Our thoughts are with you and Mrs M. The good news is they have caught it in time before it had a chance to spread. Tell Mrs M that we will thinking of her and to be brave regarding her treatment.
