Lately it seems there have been several trips to the well for people who have passed or who are in need of our good wishes. This dip in the well has nothing to do with me or anyone I know personally. But I feel compelled to thrust my vessel into the abyss none the less.

Since Halloween this year we here in the Pacific Northwest (WA state) have had eight of our dedicated law enforcement professionals succumb to gunfire. Of the three that have survived, one now lies in intensive care in the hospital.

Whatever your preference for generating positive ether waves, I humbly ask that you devote no small amount of energy towards Pierce Co deputy Kent Mundell. Deputy Mundell was shot in response to a domestic dispute call.

If there's anything left for the session, send your virtual love to the survivors of these tragedies.

Sorry, even a generous measure of liquid Christmas cheer could disuade me.

Dennis, I heard about those shootings on the news. So tragic. Thoughts and prayers for all of the family and friends; and also for the hospitalized officer and his family too.

Dennis, I really, really feel for those law enforcement professionals in your area. The acts of violence on those poor souls go beyond anything I could ever imagine.

As requested, my usual positive thoughts and prayers are extended to those in the Pacific Northwest.

Take care

Verna

Dennis, prayers for sure.

Hey Dennis,

Thanks for bringing this up. The funeral procession for Seattle police officer Timothy Brenton passed in front of our lab on a cold and rainy day, but there were dozens of people lining the street in our little neighborhood, despite the weather. By the time the procession reached downtown, there was no room on the curb for additional mourners.

The Seattle area was still dealing with the shock of his death when the four Lakewood officers were gunned down in a coffee shop. The resulting manhunt for the killer and the subsequent lethal confrontation were as distractions for all of us from the tragedy for the families left behind.

The magnitude of this heinous crime was only just being absorbed by the community when these most recent (Pierce County) shootings occurred. The sense of hopelessness that accompanies these tragedies strikes deep inside all of us. These are the people of our community most qualified to deal with violent criminals. They go out to do their jobs every day, knowing that such people are out there, and that it's their job to find them and confront them.

Please give a thought to the folks who toil in service to your community, and to the sacrifices which their families make as well.

Tom

They lay their lives on the line every time they put on the uniform and sometimes even when they aren't wearing it.

The ones that are doing their job and helping those they can get my respect and positive vibes as well as those that have given their all.

Hey Folks,

Just an update to the tragic story of the two Pierce County deputies that Dennis brought up. After it was confirmed the Deputy Mundell would remain in a persistent vegetative state, his family decided to take him off of life support, and he passed quickly thereafter. I'm sure that it was a difficult decision, but perhaps now the family will commence to heal.

Tom -

Thank you.

I learned about the deputy's passing and had meant to mention about it. I wasn't aware of the heartrending decision that had to be made. Thank you for an eloquent closure to this thread.
