First of all - TP? Where's the potty paper? Am I supposed to light that on fire to stay warm?
FYI - this is the longest duration cold snap in the Tampa Bay area since 1989.. Christmas Eve... when they needed to do rolling blackouts to avoid crashing the power grid. Yes, these inefficient heaters use more energy than the a/c in summer!
And - GET THIS - I was at a disaster planning summit with the Meteorologist in charge of the local NWS office. He said we could be expecting some Gulf-effect snow flurries Friday night into Saturday morning. Now, that's cold for Florida!
The strawberries, tomatoes and oranges are going to have a very rough time of it for the next six to seven nights... temps are expected to dip below freezing for several hours each night. Look forward to higher grocery prices on Florida produce.
Fortunately, I still have my down-filled ski coat I got three weeks before I moved here in 1992. If worse comes to worst, I have a warm jacket - even though it screams 1992.... Rhonda got a new coat from my mom about four years ago during a cold snap. Mom was cleaning her closet out and gave it to her.
The boys? Well, once the grandparents heard that the temps were gonna dip, BOXES of winter clothes started arriving. They are all good....
My temperature this morning was 36 on my car's thermometer. Tonight is expected to break the records set back in 1911... 28 in Pinellas county on the west side of Tampa Bay.
