Winter Storm Watch
Statement as of 7:57 PM CST on December 21, 2009

... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Wednesday afternoon
through Friday afternoon...

A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect
from Wednesday afternoon through Friday afternoon.

* Timing... snow will spread north across the area on Wednesday...
taper off Wednesday night... and become widespread again Thursday
and Thursday night.

* Accumulations... snowfall totals of 10 to 20 inches will be
possible with this storm with the heaviest amounts likely across
northwest Iowa.

* Wind and visibility... northeast winds of 10 to 20 mph can be
expected Wednesday and Wednesday and increase to 25 to 35 mph
out of the north Thursday through Friday. The wind combined
with the snow may reduce visibilities to near zero at times.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

This is coming on top of the foot or so of snow that we already have

I just got back from taking my mother to a friends house in a neighboring town that has generators incase of power outages, a hospital, and "normal" necessities. Sooo she will most likely have Christmas there.

Both of the boys will be staying put at their houses, both more than 2 hours away, so I guess Duane and I and the puppy will be on our own, but with everything that has gone on the last week I hope for a real calm few days.

I hate snow storms.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas!!

Vicki

Hey, Vicki, you take care of Duane, Ollie and yourself, OK?

Take care, watch out for shoveling, and keep a pathway cleared for Ollie :D

Merry Christmas--you'll be with two of the most important boys in your life

Ya know - rather than appear greedy over here in Michigan which is normally down the storm-track path from your neck of the woods, I'm thinking maybe you guys should KEEP that snow and not pass it along.

Just a thought.

:D

Ho Ho Ho...

Stay inside from the snow!

Santa uses a sleigh so he can get there... you should stay put!

And, you can tell Bing Crosby that - yes - he got his white christmas!

I feel your pain Lass. They're talking 4 to 8 inches here, and I have to drive to Rawlins Wed night. They close I-80 at the drop of a hat.

Stay safe and warm, throw another log on the fire, and wish me luck.

Well, here's the Indy forecast.......they're sure not being very definitive about it right now:

Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 6:26 AM EST on December 22, 2009

... A significant storm is expected to impact the Midwest later
this week...

A strong area of low pressure is expected to move through the
Midwest later this week... impacting much of the
Midwest... including Indiana... during the days leading up to
the Christmas Holiday.

Present indications are that light freezing rain may develop
in areas along and northeast of Interstate 74 during the morning
hours on Wednesday... and continue through Wednesday night and into
early Thursday morning. Light accumulations of ice are possible
in these areas... but remember that even light accumulations of ice
can make traveling difficult.

Locations south of Interstate 74 will likely see just rain.

By Thursday... warmer air working into the area should allow
temperatures to rise to above freezing... so any freezing rain will
change over to just rain. Colder air moving into the area behind
the storm on Christmas day should change to rain over to light
snow.

There is still quite a bit of uncertainty regarding the track of
this storm which will have a bearing on the type and amounts of
precipitation that will fall across central Indiana.

Those planning on traveling over the Holiday are encouraged to
monitor future statements regarding this storm.
