I know, I own in one and have worked as a manager at 3 properties.

Now that job I told you of, where I was removing the bed and storage underneath the bed, then build a raised platform and closet.

I have been hit with all sorts of rules BLah Blah blah

At one point when I was done with my Bench TS and took it down to the van the manager I LIE NOT! handed the owner a broom and dust pan to make sure the saw dust was not! in the elevator or outdoor hallways.

I did not even have a chance to cover my tracks. before that occurred.

I felt like a 3 Year old not a professional.

Now hear this new episode.
I previously wrote Verna

[quote="Verna"]I figured you had a deadline, so no problem.
------------------------------------------
CRIPES

the Manager came to me today and said she has a guest that sleeps from 1pm to 3 pm I cannot work.........

That means I have 2 stinking hours a day to get this done by the 15th

I won't complete the job and will not get paid in full

I am thinking not to answer the door the next time they Knock.

good night Verna I could have spit nails when she told me to stop for the next 55 minutes.

The owner heard about it from me, they were very unhappy with the latest turn of events

You know folks I am at a loss I have spent hours working on this place bending over backwards to meet "their rules" now they have constricted me beyond belief.

nothing before 10 am then only until 5pm no noisy work on Saturdays now 10-1 then 3-5 You have got to be kidding me.

Okay I feel better NOT!

I'll post some pictures

okay pictures

Now imagine that the same group determines whether or not you may buy a refrigerator, when you will patrol the neighborhood, etc. Sounds a lot like the CDR (committee for the Defense of the Revolution) in Cuba, though they also monitored political rectitude carefully.

Sounds like you need a vacation, Mango. Some deserted island far away from anybody. :)

The sad part is - just wait until a HOA board member needs some work done at their place. I suspect all the work rules will change at that point.

Friend of mine moved to a new housing development. With a HOA. He's constantly frustrated by .... not being able to plant trees in his back yard. HOA rules. Can't built a backyard BBQ and/or have a fire pit. HOA rules. This that and the other.....

HOA rules.

And the beat goes on.

Sorry to hear this Mango. It kind of reinforces a lot of my personal feelings about places like that, however, to prevent a flame war, I'll keep them to myself.

Give a little athority to a small minded person and they think they rule the world! That applys to alot of different areas of our present day life.

I'd ask to see the 2 hour "nap" time in the written covenants. Sounds like a personal preference of 1 person.

Well, Mango, it looks like one of the homeowners knows the meaning of "nap attack".....but obviously they're not oblivious to the world around them during the nap attack.

Mango, if I know you, you'll figure out how to get around the napping neighbor. You'll get the job done, on time, and with the superb quality that your customers are used to

So, chin up, grin at the offending homeowners, and wish them Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas

Oh, and hurry every chance you get, OK???? 8)

Well said, Warren!

Aside from that, I think the owner of the unit under construction has, or should have some latitude with respect to maintaining and/or improving his/her property.

I know that doesn't help your situation, Mango, but perhaps for the next one you can get a clarification of the restrictions, in writing, ahead of time.

Mango sorry to hear about your headache with these tenants.

I am sure like Verna said you will make end of the day.

Is there a chance you could find two coconut trees and tie a hamock there so she could do her siesta there

Mango,
sounds like your client needs to go to bat for you. Explain the situation to them and see if they can either get the management to relent, or extend your deadline.

Is there anything you can do off site, so that you're only doiing 'noisy' stuff during those hours that you have to?

Thanks folks for the subtle humor in your posts. When days are tight already, you don't need things like that.

The owner told his agent and the agent spoke with the President of the board. That is where it has been left off. So yesterday I worked 2 hours and not 5 hours. (I do have other work :) )

Going to work there is like Getting your beer and hoggie, then sitting down to the main bout. Where Mike Tyson is facing another challenger...

the Ref swings his arms, the bell rings before your done.

I will be building the steps off site, everything else is flooring, closet frame and drywall.
